Moving to Shorewood
Nestled along the shoreline of eastern Minnesota's Lake Minnetonka, the community of Shorewood wants to make you and your family feel welcome in your new home. Our town has much to be proud of and we are certain you will be a proud resident of Shorewood as well when you see everything that it has to offer. Take some time to explore the city and the shore as you settle in to your new Shorewood home.
The South Shore Center is the premier community center in Shorewood. This modern facility has been around for only 10 years but it still continues to be the place to gather for group events, celebrations and more. The dining room is a furnished area with table and chairs and it can seat up to 175 people for your wedding, reception or other event. It's also perfect for seminars, business meetings and classes. The activity room is smaller with enough room for about 60 people and the conference room is for more intimate meetings as it can seat up to 25 people. Rental rates vary depending on the day and the room that you want to rent, but you can get more information by calling Kristi Anderson at (952) 474-7635.
Recycling is a great way to help the environment and feel better about yourself for doing something good. The Shorewood community believes in recycling and offers pickup for your recyclable materials on every other week for the mainland residents and every other Thursday for the island residents. Put your materials by the curb by 7 a.m. on the day of your pickup to ensure they do not get missed. For more information about the recycling program and the materials that you can recycle, call the Recycle Bank's Customer Care Hotline at (888) 727-2978.
Shorewood utilities include your water, waste, sewer and storm water management services. Shorewood residents get billed quarterly for their utilities. Water is charged at $35 for the first 10,000 gallons in a quarter and $2.95 for every 1,000 gallons over 10,000 gallons. If you use more than 50,000 gallons of water in a quarter, you get billed $3.75 for every 1,000 gallons over that. Sewage is billed at $70 per quarter and storm water management ranges between $10.59 and $19.68 per quarter depending on how much you use. Recycling is only $1.75 per month per household. For more information about rates and utilities, call the Shorewood Department of Public Works at (952) 960-7914.
Shorewood is home to seven parks which include more than 100 acres of land and natural areas. Whether you enjoy hiking, biking or walking, you will find many trails that you can use. Freeman Park has trails throughout the area so you can get your exercise or simply enjoy the Minnesota nature. Music in the Park is one of the more popular events each year and you can bring the entire family for an evening of fun and live entertainment.
